Writing Coach
More Than Just an Coach. Your Ally in Academia.
With a background in rigorous, interdisciplinary scholarship, as well as mental health training with a focus on trauma-informed work and research, I have spent decades working alongside students from all walks of life and all levels of academia—helping them see their own genius and worth, while helping that translate into real-world writing projects and skills. I am a certified Level 1 Internal Family Systems practitioner, with deep experience in somatic and narrative therapeutic work. Couple this with literacy pedagogical training—including being a consultant for the National Writing Project, with two masters degrees specifically in writing and pedagogy—means I am qualified and experienced. More importantly, I am excited to support you in every way I can, to get your ideas onto the page/screen and out into the world.
Coaching sessions can be scheduled as a one-time only, or a three-session package (recommended)—and also customized to what you need. Many people like to combine a coaching session with an editing service, to receive on real-time feedback and support, an another option.
Feel free to use the Contact page to reach out for a (free) 15 minute phone call to explore if this service might be a good fit.
I look forward to working with you!
Why would coaching help me?
You have an idea, but no plan: You have the spark, perhaps the research, and it all feels overwhelming. Together we can explore how to begin—and to move forward—and come up with a doable, organized and exciting plan that keeps you wanting to write.
You don’t have time to coach yourself: You juggle multiple syllabi, student advising all the other spinning plates like a genius—but taking your own advice is just not happening. I can play that part for you, providing support, accountability and a big dose of cheerleading (without pom-poms and high splits, I promise).
You are not sure if the idea is even worth putting out there: You crave a skilled and open active listener, in-depth rigor and discussion, all in an atmosphere of curiosity and non-judgement, where you get to hear yourself with someone who holds you to your highest potential.
Supportive Ally: Academia can be isolating and the competition is real. I’m here to walk beside you. As with every service, I offer encouragement and insightful feedback at every step.
